More than 2,500 janitors in the Denver Metro area are negotiating to renew their cleaning contract before it expires this summer. Janitors are seeking guaranteed full-time positions with a living wage and health care benefits that will allow them to keep pace with the rising cost of living.

According to the Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute, the self-sufficiency wage in Colorado for one adult with two school-age children is now $16.35 per hour ($34,525 per year).
